Download iCal FileThe University of Illinois System announces the competition for the Paul D. Doolen Graduate Scholarship for the Study of Aging, sponsored by the Retirement Research Foundation, for the 2023-2024 academic year. The purpose of the award is to stimulate and support interest in the study of aging—the biological or sociological aspects of aging or treatment of diseases of the elderly.
Two scholarships of up to $4,000 will be awarded for the 2023-2024 academic year to graduate students in their second year of study, or beyond, whose principal scholarly interest is in the field of aging. One student will be chosen from the biological-biomedical sciences and the other from the behavioral-social sciences. Because the donor wishes this to be a "capstone" award, priority for awarding this scholarship will be given to candidates who already hold an assistantship or fellowship.
Applicants for the 2022-2023 awards came from diverse curricula (e.g., Kinesiology and Community Health, Biomedical Engineering, College of Medicine, School of Social Work, Rehabilitation Sciences, Biology, and Pharmacy). The 2022-23 Doolen scholars are Rifat Alam, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Community Health at UIUC, and Jackson Winter, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioengineering at UIUC.
Information and the application for the Doolen Scholarship is available on the following website: www.uaps.uillinois.edu/doolen.
Please display and distribute the attached announcement for the Doolen Scholarship to appropriate faculty members and eligible students. The application deadline is Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
