Download iCal FileThe HSPAL program at AdventHealth integrates clinical practice with Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA)/Master of Business Administration (MBA) coursework and leadership rotations to develop a foundation for a career in health-system pharmacy administration and leadership. The first year of this PGY1/2 program aims for the resident to develop a strong clinical foundation across a vast array of patient specialties at a 2,247-bed quaternary care medical center. Residents provide evidence-based patient care, lead process improvement initiatives, direct clinical programs and collaborative practice teams, facilitate medical staff committees, supervise pharmacy staff, and manage financial resources. The second year focuses on administrative and leadership aspects. Concentrated and longitudinal experiences develop resident mastery of team leadership, medication distribution, clinical practice management, medication use policy, quality and performance improvement, hospital regulation and accreditation, medication safety, and customer satisfaction. Graduates are highly competitive for a variety of hospital and health-system leadership positions and the dual MHA/MBA degree positions the resident for senior healthcare executive roles.
Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Eligibility for Florida licensure is required to apply with licensure process completed by October 1st of the first residency year. Applicants must participate in the PhORCAS and the National Matching Services processes. The following application materials must be submitted by the deadline (January 3, 2025): curriculum vitae, letter of intent, three letters of recommendation utilizing the PhORCAS template, and transcripts from all colleges attended.
**If you are attending ASHP's Midyear Meeting and would like additional information, please don't hesitate to schedule a 1:1 interview with program leadership or stop by the AdventHealth booth during the Monday afternoon showcase.**
