The pharmacy internship program at Advocate Christ Medical Center is designed to offer pharmacy students a variety of inpatient experiences over their years of pharmacy school training. The experiences offered expand with each year of professional school and are designed to help build on those skills while taking care of patients.

Interns will have shift responsibilities centered around patient care based on site needs. Starting out, interns will focus on operational duties within the central pharmacy, with the opportunity to expand responsibilities to include activities such as sterile preparation and medication histories depending on the progression of the intern and the needs of the department. Interns will also be provided the opportunity to assist with or lead department improvement projects and perform pharmacist duties under supervision. Interns from all sites will have the opportunity to partake in professional development experiences offered by AAH. Our goal is to provide an environment for pharmacy students to apply their education and ready themselves for the next step in their career and training.

Throughout the school year, interns are expected to work two shifts (Saturday and Sunday) every other weekend in addition to one evening shift per week. Accommodations will be made to modify normal shifts for school related activities provided the intern communicates the needs prior to the schedule being released.

On breaks and summer vacation, interns are expected to continue to work two shifts every other weekend. Additional work hours during the week are not guaranteed, but interns can pick up additional shifts (up to 40 hours per week) based on the needs of the department. The starting pay is $23 per hour.
