Belmont University consists of approximately 9,000 students from across the United States and abroad. Committed to being a leader among teaching universities, Belmont brings together the best of liberal arts and professional education in a Christian community of learning and service. The purpose of this portion of the fellowship is to expose fellows to the roles and responsibilities within academia and drug information. Fellows will provide didactic and experiential training to Belmont University School of Pharmacy students, as well as participate in the roles and responsibilities of a drug information specialist in the Christy Houston Foundation Drug Information Center.
HealthTrust is committed to strengthening clinical excellence and provider performance through an aligned membership model and the delivery of total spend management advisory solutions. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, HealthTrust serves over 1,600 hospitals and health systems, and more than 43,000 alternate care sites. The HealthTrust experiences are structured to fully integrate fellows into the daily functions and responsibilities of the Clinical Pharmacy team by engaging with the various department teams and supporting the drug information service. This component of the fellowship program will allow fellows to expand their knowledge of a group purchasing organization, and strengthen their research, writing, presentation and drug information skills.
The Division of Drug Information (DDI) within FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research is the latest partner in this fellowship program, joining in 2022. DDI fulfills its mission by educating the public and providing timely, accurate, and useful information regarding human drug products through traditional and social media outlets. The FDA experience provides an opportunity for fellows to refine their drug information skills in a regulatory setting. Fellows will respond to drug information inquiries from patients, health care professionals, and regulated industry; create and disseminate content; and assist with high-profile initiatives based on their areas of interest and Agency need.
