Job Summary:
We seek a passionate, motivated and community-focused pharmacy intern to join our team this summer.  This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a non-profit healthcare setting, where you will gain hands-on clinical and operational pharmacy experience while making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients who depend on our services.

Key Responsibilities*:

● Support pharmacy operations by assisting the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions to meet patients' needs.
● Ensure the accuracy of processed prescriptions including medication, dose and directions.
● Differentiate between a registered pharmacy and a dispensary, as defined under Wisconsin state law.
● Assist with inventory management by stocking shelves, monitoring stock levels, ordering/receiving medications and checking for expired medications.
● Assist with medication access programs including patient assistance programs and drug repository.
● Ensure medication donations are compliant with the regulatory standards of the Wisconsin Drug Repository Program.
● Assist the pharmacist with tasks to improve workflow and efficiency.
● Observe the pharmacist during patient consultations to learn best practices.
● Observe the pharmacist collaborate with the care team to optimize patient care including medication therapy management and chronic disease state monitoring.
● Help maintain and update patient records using electronic health records (EHR).
● Complete one capacity-building and sustainability project for the Pharmacy (Dispensary).
* All responsibilities completed under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Qualifications:
● Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program - must have minimally completed P1 year or beyond. P2 and P3 students are preferred.

● Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, resource-conscious setting.
● Familiarity with pharmacy operations and clinical practices.
● Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
● Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly beneficial.
