Download iCal FileThe Paul D. Doolen Graduate Scholarship for the Study of Aging for 2024-25 is now accepting applications. The Doolen Scholarship is sponsored by the Retirement Research Foundation. The purpose of the award is to stimulate and support interest in the study of aging—the biological and sociological aspects of aging and the treatment of diseases affecting the elderly.
Two scholarships of up to $4,000 will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year to graduate students in their second year of study, or beyond, whose principal scholarly interest is in the field of aging. One student will be chosen from the biological-biomedical sciences and the other from the behavioral-social sciences. Because the donor wishes this to be a "capstone" award, priority for awarding this scholarship will be given to candidates who already hold an assistantship or fellowship.
Applicants for the 2023-2024 awards came from diverse curricula (e.g., Kinesiology and Community Health, Biomedical Engineering, College of Medicine, School of Social Work, Rehabilitation Sciences, Biology, and Pharmacy). The 2023-24 Doolen scholars are Stephanie Voss, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Kinesiology at UIUC, and Maria Zeballos Castro, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioengineering at UIUC.
Information and the application for the Doolen Scholarship is available on the following website: scholarships.uaps.uillinois.edu/doolen.
Please display and distribute the attached announcement for the Doolen Scholarship to appropriate faculty members and eligible students. The application deadline is Wednesday, October 3, 2024.
