PMPR 300. Undergraduate Research Experience in Pharmacy Practice. 1-3 hours.

Course is being developed to support the academic environment for undergraduate students at UIC. The research experience will be under the guidance of a faculty member who will act as a research supervisor. Course Information: Satisfactory/Unstatisfatory grading only. May be repeated. Application of credit toward the degree is contingent upon the approval of the student’s college and/or department. Prerequisite(s): Consent of the instructor supervising the research experience. Open only to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

PSCI 300. Undergraduate Research Experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences. 1-3 hours.

PSOP 300. Undergraduate Research Experience in Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy. 1-3 hours.

Supports the academic environment for undergraduate students at UIC. The research experience will be under the guidance of a faculty member who will act as a research supervisor. Course Information: Satisfactory/Unstatisfatory grading only. May be repeated. Application of credit toward the degree is contingent upon the approval of the student’s college and/or department. Prerequisite(s): Consent of the instructor supervising the research experience. Open only to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

 

The curriculum requires students to complete 13 credit hours of elective courses before they can continue to their fourth year. Because classroom elective courses may have limited seating; students may choose to take up to a maximum of 8 hours of 380/390 Independent Study Courses to count towards the elective total.

380 – Independent Study: Research

  • One to three credit hours course
  • Minimum GPA requirement: 2.5
  • Maximum Number Hours within one Department: 6
  • Maximum Number Hours allowed: 8 (only if no 390 courses are taken)

390 – Independent Study: Special Projects

  • One to two credit hours course
  • No minimum GPA requirement
  • Maximum Number Hours allowed: 4

 

Students intending to take 380 or 390 courses must follow the instructions outlined below:

  1. Choose a topic and instructor to oversee your project. Refer to the Potential 380/390 Topics link below for a list of instructors and their research.
  2. Meet with instructor to discuss project/method of evaluation and complete the online form linked below.
  3. Register for course via my.uic.edu. Course reference numbers, CRNs, are listed by the instructor’s department (BPS, PMMP, PMPR, PSOP), not as PHAR courses.

 

PMPR 485. Concentration Research. 2 hours.

Investigation, under the direction of one or more faculty members, of a problem of limited scope. May require literature research related to the research project. Course Information: May be repeated to a maximum of 4 hours.

PSCI 485. Concentration Research. 2 hours.

Special independent study project of limited scope under the direction of one or more faculty members with specialization in that area. The project may require literature research related to the research project. Course Information: May be repeated to a maximum of 4 hours. Extensive computer use required. Prerequisite(s): Consent of the instructor and admission to the Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
